[...] If you’re like me, you find it hard to communicate in stressful moments. Scientifically, it is impossible to communicate well when under stress. The body experiences a primal response that agitates people in conflict. A stressed guy will tense his facial expressions, breathe shallowly, raise his voice, respond faster, and not think clearly. (If you controlled these, you wouldn’t be stressed). Not only does the tension hurt your communication, it also creates a viral effect as the emotional rigidity infects those you talk to.
I was actually thinking I was a very sensitive person and get carried away with people whom I come in contact. After I went through your article, I came to see that it is but natural and it can be an advantage to be like this. I am very eager to implement this technique in my day to day life.

Can you throw more light on how to train the mind to be on the high road all the time. We would have done irreparable damage due to our low road decisions.

Absolutely fantastic. It can be difficult to work around those that have explosive tempers because it rubs off on everyone in the office and ruins everyone's day. This has given me insight into how to handle the situation. Thanks a million. I have shared this with my friends as well and look forward to receiving mails from you. God bless you and keep up the good work.

Hey Joshua,

Nice job of weaving your personal story around the point you are making. I think we could all feel the internal shift as the officer threw a wet blanket over you good mood. I was surprised that he actually managed to dampen your spirits. Once you locked into the needed role-playing to create your intended outcome, didn’t it feel like a game? I try to have fun (internally at least) when a situation requires me to adopt a certain character. Really enjoyed this post, thanks
