This is a book review of Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ.
I purchased the 10th anniversary edition of this “groundbreaking book that redefines what it means to be smart”. 10 years following the release of his book, Goleman’s development and popularization of emotional intelligence (EQ or EI) has built this new field of study that assists with parenting, teaching, managing people, personal success, and general wellbeing. Emotional Intelligence is an insightful book in a new field that’ll satisfy any curiosity to understand emotions. … Click to continue reading →

This is a book review of Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life: Create Your Life, Your Relationships, and Your World in Harmony with Your Values.
I do a lot of reading books, listening to CDs, and watching DVDs on topics related to communication. Prior to investing in my self-education, I research the sources worth learning from so I don’t waste my time studying garbage. Even when I frequently choose the best material and devour it, I have discovered a select few that stand above the rest. I’ve stumbled upon few books that I refer to as a must-must-read for everybody. Nonviolent Communication is one of those rare books every person needs to read because of its advice to help the reader build empathy and understanding. … Click to continue reading →

This is a book review of Alan Garner’s Conversationally Speaking: Tested New Ways to Increase Your Personal and Social Effectiveness.
The book’s title describes the book fairly well. Everything in it has been tested (though I’m not sure about the “new” part.) Conversationally Speaking contains the meat of what communication trainers have advised to people for decades. That is, understanding types of questions, listening, handling compliments, and other basic communication skills. … Click to continue reading →

This is a book review of Anthony Robbins’ Awaken the Giant Within: How to Take Immediate Control of Your Mental, Emotional, Physical and Financial Destiny!
If you haven’t heard of Anthony (Tony) Robbins, you are one of few people unfamiliar with the personal development giant. Anthony Robbins is undoubtedly the world leader in life coaching. He has become the face of self-help and motivation – though he does not like being categorized as a motivational speaker because he does much more than motivate people.
